Fortunately, since iOS 16, the Files app on the iPhone has the option to provide passowrd, thus ensuring the security of stored PDF files.

Lock PDF with iPhone Password

  • Open Files
  • Open PDF document
  • Tap the drop down menu at the top, near the PDF file name. Then tap the Lock PDF option
  • Enter the password and repeat it as confirmation. If so, tap Done
  • When returning to the PDF file view, tap the Done option to save the settings.

Once done, you will find the PDF file with a padlock logo, which means the file has been locked. You can tap and enter a password if you want to access it.

This PDF file will remain locked, even if you share it with others. This is to ensure that sensitive information remains confidential and protected. Just make sure you remember the password.
