3 ways to reduce photo file size on iPhone
Many websites have restrictions on the size of photo files that can be uploaded. This is usually done so as not to strain the overall performance of the website.
Therefore, it is a good idea to reduce the file size before uploading photos.
This article explains various ways to reduce the file size of photos on your iPhone.
Change the file format to HEIC
Since 2017, Apple has used HEIC as the default format on iPhone devices. So if you're using an iPhone device released in 2017, like the iPhone X, XS series, and 11 series, the default format for taking pictures is HEIC.
HEIC itself offers a smaller file size than JPEG but still maintains image quality.
- Go to Settings.
- Swipe down until you find the Camera option.
- Tap on the Formats option.
- Tap on the High-Efficiency option.
Use the Safari functions
If you are a Safari browser user, you can use the Safari feature where the size of the uploaded photo can be selected as you wish. Choose from the available sizes Original, Large, Medium, and Small.
Using third-party apps
The last option you can try is with the help of an application. There are many apps in the App Store for resizing photos, including Image Size.
- Download and open the Image Size app.
- Allow the app to access photos.
- Select the photo you want to use.
- Set the pixel size as desired. You can also select a preset size according to the iPhone device.
- If yes, you can export photos.
