No magic, but "handoff"

Have you ever heard of the "general clipboard"? The rather unknown Apple feature has recently taken advantage of an Instagram channel to create amazing faces in the community with a small demonstration.

Above an iPad screen, the user then performs another touch gesture and spreads the same three fingers in all directions.

Magic? Hardly. Anyone who sees it for the first time, however, should not be surprised. The common clipboard is based on the so-called "handoff" function, which has been around for quite a while. 

According to Apple, content such as text, images, photos, and videos can be copied on an Apple device and transferred to another iDevice – copy & paste, so to speak. 

By the way, this works not only with iPhone and iPad but also with the Mac.

For example, if you own an iPad, you can try the "trick" for yourself. Maybe you can already think of a usage scenario in which the trick could be beneficial.

To do this, go to the Settings app on the iPhone (and iPad), tap on "General" and then select the item "Handoff", which you can then act on the next level via the switch.

The general clipboard also requires that all devices are nearby and are set up as follows:

• Each device is signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID.
• Bluetooth is enabled on each device.
• Wi-Fi is enabled on each device.
• Handoff is enabled on each device.
