postheadericon Internet marketing: Finally, This is a Sure Thing!

It took me a long time to become a full-time Internet marketer and I’m going to give you a secret in this post that took me seven years of frustration and failure to figure out.  This post is for those people who have been trying to make money online for months or even years and have not found success.

The secret that I’m going to share with you could change an important part of your mindset that might change everything for you.

It did for me once I accepted the secret as fact.  If you believe the secret is true it should be like a light bulb going on in your head and suddenly you’ll be able to clearly see what you’ve been doing wrong all along.

Some of you will read what the secret is, but you won’t believe it or you won’t think it’s a big deal so you will just keep doing more of what you are already doing and keep wondering why this Internet marketing thing is so difficult.  Don’t feel bad, I did the same thing.

The only reason I call it a secret is because it’s something that the gurus don’t what you to know.  If everyone knew this secret and acted on it most big time marketers and gurus would be out of business.  Yes, these are strong words, but I dare you to read the rest of this article and see if you don’t agree.  You can debate me in the comments if you like.

Okay, so what is the big secret?  The secret is if you want to become successful in Internet marketing you need to stop doing one thing and that’s searching for a “sure thing”.  Now, before you say, “come on, that’s it?” think about it.  Did you ever buy an ebook or course and not give it 100% of your effort because you didn’t want to invest time and effort into something that may not pay off?  Did you ever automatically assume it wouldn’t work or it wouldn’t be worth the effort?

It doesn’t matter if you’re building your first website, trying to choose a niche, looking for the perfect keywords, choosing the best product to promote, choosing a product to create, etc.  Yes you should do your basic research, but marketing is 99% trial and error.

If you’re expecting to find the perfect niche, strategy or product without just getting out there and testing it, I’m sorry to say, but it’s not going to happen.  People want in affiliate marketing plan that is guaranteed to work, they want a niche that’s guaranteed to be profitable and they want a product that’s guaranteed to sell. Now why do we want, and not only want, but we expect these things?

The answer is because it’s all part of the big marketing game plan that gets us addicted to opportunity hopping. That’s when we jump from product to product without ever really getting anything done because each new opportunity offered looks faster and easier than the last one.

The hyped up sales letters created by marketers and copywriters lead us to believe that a product is a sure thing. They get us on an emotional high. We are brainwashed to believe that getting rich online will be fast and easy. Now the subconscious mind is an incredibly powerful thing.

If you’re conditioned to believe that you should be able to easily make $10,000, $15,000, or $20,000 per month then your mind will prevent you from doing hard work for small gains.  It will also prevent you from sticking with it when you hit a few obstacles.

So since you are conditioned to believe it’s a “sure thing” and it’s easy, as soon as you feel it’s not you’ll quickly give up and be off looking for something else.  This is setting you up for frustration and failure. Right at that moment you are extremely vulnerable and susceptible to the next new product launch. This is because the next product launch looks like a “sure thing” and that you’ll make lots of money and faster and easier than anything else you’ve tried. You buy it because you think it will finally give you that breakthrough secret that you need to be successful.

After you buy the product the reality hits and you realize that it’s really not a sure thing.   It truly is an emotional roller coaster.  The sales letter gets you all hyped up and the reality of the product lets you down and the cycle continues.

When I ask people why they haven’t taken action the most common answer I get is that they don’t want to invest time and effort into something that they are not “sure” is going to work.  Well that’s the sensible and safe thing to do but if you want to be an entrepreneur you have to take risks.  Waiting and searching for the “sure thing” cost me much more than it ever would if I had just moved forward and taken action regardless of the risks.

What do I mean by that? I mean for seven years while, I had the wrong mindset, I didn’t want to waste time on something that may not work.  So for those seven years I never took the risk of giving anything 100% of my efforts.

What ended up happening is exactly what I didn’t want to happen. I was so worried about wasting my time that it actually caused me not to do anything which was a total waste of time.  This is time that I’ll never get back, time wasted on hoping and wishing that I would find that “sure thing”, that secret that the successful people knew, but wouldn’t share.

So the success key here is to stop searching for the “sure thing”, learn and practice the basics of Internet Marketing and focus on one strategy until you get good at it.  Focus on making small successes then progress from there.

I’d really like to hear your thoughts on this topic so leave a comment below.  Have you been searching for a “sure thing”?  If not, is there something that has been holding you back?

If you found this post interesting or helpful please share it.
