Pick a Niche, Any Niche!
Don’t spend all of your time looking for the perfect niche, market or product to sell. Don’t look for the best niche. Don’t even spend too much time looking for a good niche. You could easily end up waiting for months trying to figure out what a good niche is.
Those months could turn into years if you don’t give up first. This was another big mistake I made when I started to learn Internet marketing. I wanted to KNOW that I would make money in the niche or market before I spent my time working on it.
So many newbies say that choosing their first niche is the hardest part of learning Internet marketing and it is what is holding them back. Ok now here is some cold hard truth. It’s almost impossible for a newbie to choose a niche that they know will be profitable because they don’t have the experience or confidence to know what will work for them.
And if you expect someone to tell you what their successful niche is you might as well ask them for their bank account numbers and what their passwords are. It ain’t going to happen. So then, how do the people who are successful at affiliate marketing figure it out? Their desire to make money was greater than their fear of wasting their time. They took chances and learned by trial and error.
There are people who are successful in almost every niche. So what does this tell you? It should tell you that choosing a niche is not as important as learning to sell to that niche. This is a skill you will learn by practicing. Selling stuff online is mainly about one thing… SELLING.
Skeptics Kill Internet Marketing Newbie’s Motivation
If you really want to make money online then don’t listen to skeptics and negative people about it “not working”. Reading forums that are full of people who are complaining that it doesn’t work or they can’t do it. Get away from that.
Let’s say you want to do affiliate marketing with PPC then you read several forum posts about one guy who lost a couple hundred dollars with PPC. Another guy says he tried it before, but he was never able to get it to work. The ones who are struggling are the ones who are making the posts.
Stop reading that stuff. How motivated do you think you will be to try something when you see it’s not working for someone else? There are tens, if not hundreds of thousands of people who are making money with PPC and other proven methods. The thing is, they are doing it quietly and not posting about it.
Until you are making good money and are able to help others you should only use forums for three things.
If you do anything else there you will be wasting your valuable time and killing your motivation to move forward with an idea. One of the reasons people go to forums is to look for reassurance for their ideas.
They want to see that their idea is working for others so they don’t waste time or money on it if it is not. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work the opposite effect happens. This throws you back into the “research and buy” cycle. There will always be people in the forums that are negative and unable to get anything to work.
Don’t Blow It In Forums - How Internet Marketing Newbies Get Good Answers
For Internet Marketing newbies asking questions in forums and getting your desired answers can be difficult. People will tell you go to the forums and just start asking questions, but because you don’t know specifically which questions to ask most beginners will ask very general, unfocused questions.
Questions like, Where do I start?” and What’s the fastest way to make money?” are common. It’s not easy to get good answers to general questions because they require very lengthy and well thought-out answers. This takes more time than most people are willing to share. Rememer, you’re the one that wants something so you should take the time to provide a well thought-out question.
Unfortunately, it’s somewhat of a catch 22. As a newbie, you can’t ask specific questions until you learn specifically which questions to ask and you can’t learn specifically which questions to ask because people don’t like to answer general questions.
Make it simple for people to answer your posts
- Make your subject line very specific. Never just write “Help” or “Newbie Needs Help”
Ask a very detailed question, not just one line. - Ask just one or two questions in a post. Remember people are giving up there time to help you so you don’t want to take up too much of it all at once. Be courteous.
- Make your posts easy to read by breaking up your paragraphs. If people see your post and it is a half page of text all together it will look difficult to read and they may skip over it. Make a new paragraph with space in between every 3 or 4 lines.
- If you really want to be respected act on the good advice that is given and report your results back at the forum. It’s a great way to make some friends in higher places.
One last thing to remember, never be afraid to ask questions. Everyone is an Internet Marketing newbie at something. No one knows it all no matter how much money their making. If you’ve been online for any length of time you probably know a few things that some top gurus don’t even know.
